Notes About Alzheimer Disease
- Alzheimer disease is an eponym (named after a person). It is named for Alois Alzheimer (1864–1915), who discovered pathological features of dementia while a student.
- For clarity and consistency, it is more commonly written as Alzheimer disease rather than the possessive form Alzheimer’s disease.
- The ‘i’ before “e” rule does not apply when spelling Alzheimer disease.
- The ‘d’ in disease is written in lowercase.
