Topic 4:2 Terms NOT Built from Word Part

Textbook Activity

Objective 2: Define, pronounce, and spell medical terms NOT built from word parts. (p. 108)

The terms you will learn for this topic are NOT built from word parts but are terms from modern language and other origins. They may contain word parts but are difficult to translate to learn their meaning. For example, we consider obstructive sleep apnea a term NOT built from word parts, even though apnea is built from word parts. Knowing the word parts can help you learn the term.

Read the content and complete the exercises. (pp. 108-114)

Check your answers using the Answer Key, Appendix C, at the back of your textbook.
