The terms you will learn for this topic are NOT built from word parts but are terms from modern language and other origins. They may contain word parts but are difficult to translate to learn their meaning.

Most people know and use the term stroke. A stroke occurs when a clot or blood vessel bursts, interfering with blood flow to the brain. Various forms of paralysis may result from a stroke. Cerebral vascular accident (CVA) is another term for stroke. Both are acceptable to use in medical language.

Read the content and complete the exercises. (pp. 359-366)
