The terms you will learn for this topic are NOT built from word parts but are terms from modern language and other origins. They may contain word parts but are difficult to translate to learn their meaning.
For example, cataract is a commonly used medical term relating to the eye that is not built from word parts. Likewise, LASIK is a fascinating medical term not built from word parts because it is the acronym for laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis. I am sure we are all grateful we do not need to write the entire phrase each time we use it.
