The endocrine system is made up of glands that secrete hormones to assist in the regulation of body activities.

Diabetes Mellitus

There are two major forms of diabetes.

  • Type 1 Diabetes: insulin is not produced by the body, has an abrupt onset, and occurs in childhood or adolescence.
  • Type 2 Diabetes: Insulin is produced, but there is a resistance of the body cells to use it; the slow onset usually occurs in adults.
